Circon Energy

Sustainability

UN Sustainable Development Goals

Circon’s business model contributes directly to seven of the seventeen goals. Rather than claim credit against all of them, we set out which ones, against which targets, and how each contribution is measured.

Why seven and not seventeen

A smaller claim, properly argued.

Circon has mapped its activities against all seventeen goals — that assessment is set out below. Mapping is not the same as measuring, so the two are kept apart on this page. Seven goals are prioritized and reported against, because those are the ones our operations affect through the business model itself rather than through aspiration.

Where a contribution is a projection rather than a result, it is labeled as one. Where a figure needs a third-party assessment before it can be stated, it is not stated. No claim on this page is made against a sector average, because no published benchmark exists to support one.

17 of 17

Goals mapped

Circon's activities have been mapped against every one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The three categories below account for all seventeen between them.

9 of 17

Addressed by core operations

Nine goals are engaged directly by what the energy facility does — waste diversion, baseload generation, material recovery and the carbon result.

5 of 17

Addressed beyond core operations

Five more are engaged by how the business is run rather than by the process itself: local employment, procurement, community programs and governance.

3 of 17

Indirect contribution

Three are reached indirectly, through the effect of reliable power and diverted waste on the communities around a facility.

Targets identified as relevant

Ninety of the 169 underlying targets have been identified as relevant to Circon's operations. Seven are prioritized and measured.

The seven prioritized goals, each against a named target with a stated measure and a named verification source, follow below.

Select a figure for the detail behind it.

Circon's own assessment, mapping planned and current operations against the UN Sustainable Development Goals and their 169 targets. It records where Circon's activities engage a goal, not that a goal or target has been achieved. Not independently verified. Reviewed September 2026.

Prioritized goals

Seven goals, seven measures.

Targets are stated per facility per year, from project design. They are not operating results. Each is tied to a named verification source and a UN indicator, and the framework is aligned to the EU Green Bond Standard and the Equator Principles — the standards international lenders and development-finance institutions apply at diligence.

SDG 77.1.1 · 7.2.1

Affordable and Clean Energy

Target 7.1 / 7.2

Ensure universal access to affordable, reliable and modern energy services, and increase the share of renewable energy.

Our contribution

Baseload clean energy delivered at the lowest cost of baseload generation on the grid — in territories with among the least reliable electricity in their region.

Target, per facility per year

1.4 million MWh per year

Verified against

Metered generation data · independent engineer · IFC Performance Standard 3

SDG 88.5.1 · 8.8.1

Decent Work and Economic Growth

Target 8.5 / 8.8

Achieve full and productive employment and decent work for all, and protect labour rights and safe working environments.

Our contribution

Construction and permanent operating roles filled locally, with safety performance reported rather than asserted.

Target, per facility per year

600+ direct and 4,350 indirect jobs · 95% local hire · TRIR 0.47

Verified against

Payroll records · ILO core standards · IFC Performance Standard 2 audit

SDG 1111.6.1

Sustainable Cities and Communities

Target 11.6

Reduce the adverse per capita environmental impact of cities, paying special attention to air quality and municipal waste management.

Our contribution

Municipal solid waste diverted from landfill and from the natural environment, in markets where remaining landfill capacity is measured in years.

Target, per facility per year

650,000 mT per year diverted

SDG 1212.4.2 · 12.5.1

Responsible Consumption and Production

Target 12.4 / 12.5

Achieve environmentally sound management of wastes, and substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse.

Our contribution

Recovered carbon black, biochar, biocarbon and recovered metals returned to industry as direct replacements for virgin materials, alongside renewable fuel production.

Target, per facility per year

125,500 mT per year recovered carbon black · 1.877 million barrels per year renewable fuel

GHG Protocol · Verra / Puro.earth methodology · third-party verifier

SDG 33.9.1

Good Health and Well-being

Target 3.9

Substantially reduce deaths and illnesses from hazardous chemicals and air, water and soil pollution and contamination.

Our contribution

Open burning of waste displaced, with continuous air-quality monitoring against the permit rather than periodic self-reporting.

Target, per facility per year

Emissions within permit limits

Continuous emissions monitoring data · environmental permit · IFC Performance Standards 3 and 4

SDG 99.4.1

Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

Target 9.4

Upgrade infrastructure and retrofit industries to make them sustainable, with greater adoption of clean and environmentally sound technologies.

Our contribution

Advanced chemical recycling capacity deployed at industrial scale, using commercially available equipment rather than first-of-a-kind hardware.

Target, per facility per year

~1 million mT per year capacity
